Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down: Deciding on Adam Moffat

Do you keep the Scot or do you kick him to the curb?

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

As we move forward in this offseason discussion here on Big D Soccer, we figured it would be wise to look at the players with options on their contracts to discuss whether or not we want them back with FC Dallas in 2015. For the second straight year we're going with the Roman theme of thumbs up or thumbs down for this series.

Next in our debate is a look at veteran midfielder that oddly enough had more playoff experience than anyone else on the roster. We're talking today about Adam Moffat.

Moffat was brought to FCD during the offseason in a controversial swap with Seattle for Kenny Cooper. The move was made to bring some bite to the midfield that was sorely lacking in 2013.

Jason Poon our resident stat guru pulled up Moffat's number from 2014, in the end they were rather pedestrian.

Moffat had appeared in 20 games in 2014 for FCD, seven of which he went the full 90, six that he was subbed off and another seven that he was subbed on. His shot totals weren't anything to get excited over either as he didn't get more than two shots on target.

As Jason put it to me, he was rather average statistically this year.

The cap hit for Moffat is just above $165k for 2014. Not horrible but given the output he provided this year with the 20 appearances (along with four yellows and one red card), it seems a little overpriced.

But we throw this one to you? Does FCD need Moffat back in 2015?
