It appears that Brek Shea could be heading back to Major League Soccer in 2015. Reports from the Orlando Sententialindicate that former FC Dallas midfielder and 2011 MVP candidate is close to transferring to expansion side Orlando City SC.
Orlando City is finalizing a move to sign the U.S. winger from Stoke City, according to multiple sources with direct knowledge of the move. The transfer, expected to be completed in the coming days, will bring back the former Major League Soccer All-Star and Best XI selection and could reinvigorate the career of a top U.S. prospect.
Shea has been rumored to return to MLS in 2015 after falling out of favor with clubs in Europe.
Orlando is likely leaning on their connections with Stoke City to help facilitate this deal. Orlando is sitting in second place in the newly updated MLS Allocation Order. Since FC Dallas got a transfer fee for him when he left for Stoke, they no longer have first rights of refusal for Shea's services.
No word yet on what Orlando will be spending on Shea or if the 25-year old will be a Designated Player for manager Adrian Heath.
