We've seen several MLS clubs announce their USL PRO reserve teams over the past couple of weeks - most of them being conference rivals like Portland, Seattle, Salt Lake and most recently Vancouver. FC Dallas has remained quiet on the topic but all of that could change with in the next week as the club will announce Arizona United SC as their USL PRO affiliate for 2015.
Sources close to the matter tell Big D Soccer that management from Phoenix was recently in town meeting with the Hunts about the partnership. I've been told this partnership will be announced before MLS Cup. Dan Hunt told fans recently that an announcement would be done by early December, which of course is only a few days away now.
Arizona United SC is located in the Phoenix suburb of Peoria and is coached by former FCD defender Michael Dellorusso. Last year Oscar Pareja sent Homegrown forward Jonathan Top to Arizona for most of the regular season.
Based on how the MLS-USL agreement works, FC Dallas will be able to loan up to four players to Arizona for the 2015 season. We will go into which candidates make the most sense for a loan later on.
There is still a shot that a club like the Austin Aztex or the Tulsa Roughnecks could sneak in at the 11th hour as the new affiliate for FC Dallas but given all the connections in Arizona, those chances seem almost slim to none right now.
