FC Dallas hands out team awards

Fabian Castillo named Most Valuable Player in FC Dallas’ turnaround season.

The FC Dallas technical staff has handed out their end of the season awards (something we're slacking on our end here at Big D Soccer). Team captain Matt Hedges was named the team's Defensive MVP while Fabian Castillo picked up the Team MVP for the 2014 season.

Hedges started 32 games this season while captaining the club to their best point output in club history. He scored three goals on the season and picked up his first career assist in a win over Toronto back in April. Hedges would only miss two games this year. He lead the Dallas defense to a 1.31 goals against average with six shutouts.

On the other end was Castillo, who scored a career-high 10 goals in 2014. Oddly enough that number outdid all three of his previous seasons combined. He logged more minutes this year and also had a career high in number of starts with 26.

Congrats to both Matt and Fabian on a wonderful 2014 season. We plan on issuing out our team awards next week here on Big D Soccer.
