After the dust settled on today's news about Chivas USA and the conference realignment. I got to thinking about the 2015 schedule a bit had thought at how well FC Dallas came out of this entire thing. Sure, losing a full MLS team is never a good thing to see but if there are any winners in this conference realignment it may be the folks in the front office at FC Dallas.
Just take a quick look at who will be coming into town next year from the Eastern Conference for one thing. As long as the rotation remains the same as last year, where the teams that visited here will be road games and vice versa, FC Dallas should host the following teams:
The road games in out of the Eastern Conference should look like this:
That means FCD will get visits from both expansion teams, plus some old rivals like Chicago and Columbus.
FCD will play each of their nine conference opponents at least twice (one home, one away), plus six additional intra-conference games -- three home and three away. More than likely these will be rivalry series with Houston, SKC and Colorado. I'm guessing the other three could be a rotation-based thing with the other clubs.
No matter how you spin it, the way the attendance has gone the last two years, FC Dallas could be on the verge of breaking more attendance records again in 2015.
