FC Dallas punched their ticket into the post season on Sunday night with a 2-1 win over the LA Galaxy.

In front of 19,039 fans at Toyota Stadium for Landon Donovan's final regular season visit to Texas, Fabian Castillo scored a goal in the 87th minute to send Dallas to the playoffs for the first time since 2011.

LA got on the board first in the 21st minute with a little chip from Stefan Ishizaki. The Swede took a clearance from Matt Hedges at the edge of the penalty box, made one juke to get by a couple Dallas defenders before putting in a chip over Chris Seitz.

FC Dallas did end the first half with a bulk of the chances on goal including six corner kicks and four free kicks. The best chance came 33rd minute off a corner kick. Walker Zimmerman made a near post run where he deflected the ball towards the goal by Jamie Penedo made a acrobatic stop to keep Dallas off the board.

Shortly after the start of the second half FC Dallas would tie things up on a goal from David Texeira in the 52nd minute. Andres Escobar would make a play 40 yards away from goal to pull out the Galaxy defenders, just as one defender moved towards him the Colombian would play Texeira behind the defense and he would score his fourth goal of the season.

Gordon nearly put the Galaxy back in front in the 69th minute. The ball would trickle through the Dallas defense where Gordon was waiting on the back post. His should would just get by Seitz but lucky for Dallas the fans the ball would roll just past the other goal post.

Dallas would finally break the deadlock in the 87th minute on a throw in from Zach Loyd. The veteran full back would find Andres Escobar in the box would would put a hard shot on goal causing Penedo to punch it out only as far to Castillo who would head in his 10th goal of the season.

FCD would end the match with 10 men however as Moises Hernandez would tackle Jose Villareal with a hard challenge from behind.

FC Dallas returns to action next weekend as they battle the Colorado Rapids for their final regular season road game.
