Quote Sheet

FC Dallas Head Coach Schellas Hyndman

General thoughts on the match...

We tried coming up and putting immediate pressure on them to avoid giving up early goals. It was a bad start for us, but we kept our heads up, kept playing, kept moving the ball, and I thought we had a very good first half.

The game was going back and forth and we knew Jackson and [Fabian] Castillo would cause a lot of problems for Vancouver as two front runners with speed. Neither of them are excellent finishers but they sure create a lot of problems.

Fabian gave [Je-Vaughn Watson] a great ball. I don't know if you realize how hard it is to hit that ball - with technique, with that pressure, and to put it in the back of the net.

We made a couple of substitutions that really paid off for us. We had a great goal from Mauro [Diaz]. You could see the game kind of change a little bit when he went on the field, with much more possession, penetrating movements and killer passes.

We all realize what a spectacular goal Jair [Benitez] had. To dribble at full speed, look up, see the goalie at the top of the box and strike that ball out while it was moving forward is very difficult.

It was a great win for us. It was a game that we needed to win. We needed to get ourselves into the playoffs and with the eight games we had, we feel that if we could win four of them, we'd have a very strong chance of getting in there, so that's our goal.

On getting the first home win since May 25th...

You look at the players and we may not have gotten a win since [May 25] but I think that our guys have really come out and given their best. Sometimes it hasn't gone our way and sometimes we dig ourselves into a really big hole, but everybody feels good right now.

If you know how this league is when you're hot, you've got to be prepared to be cold. It's very difficult to keep on a winning streak throughout the whole season. When teams don't do well they don't do well for a while and we went through that. Hopefully we've turned it around so that we can see the points we were seeing at the beginning of the year.

On the impact of his substitutions...

Well you would hope your substitutions always bring something. When two of the three score goals it is tremendous, but it isn't something that you're banking on. Mauro [Diaz's] goal was a classic. He's going to be a very good player for FC Dallas for a very long time and of course, Jair's goal was spectacular.

On facing Colorado Rapids next week...

Right now we know that we're going to get Raul [Fernandez] back. We're going to get Blas [Perez] back. Tonight's game was so very important for the team. It's not just the three points. It's the confidence the players have right now and the feel-good attitude and the belief that they have in each other. These are the types of games that, if you look back at your seasons to see where they turn, you could turn back and say this was the game.

FC Dallas midfielder Andrew Jacobson

On getting back into the lineup after his injury...

It felt good to get back out there. It's always important to come in and contribute as much as you can to help get the win. I felt good about the team's performance and I felt good about the part I played.

With the win, how does the team feel heading into a big match against Colorado?

Confident. It's not just the win tonight. It's how we got the win. We came and played like a team... The way we want to play the game. The feeling we had out there is the way we want to play. Everyone enjoyed how we played and believes in how we played. It's a good step moving forward.

On controlling possession for large stretches of the game...

We have technical players. The guys all want the ball at their feet. Everyone was moving off the ball. It made it very difficult for Vancouver to press us. We kept chipping away. We didn't panic when they went up a goal. We believed we would get back in the game and we did.

FC Dallas midfielder Je-Vaughn Watson

On his goal...

Being down, 1-0, I thought we might need something special for us to come back and win this game. We have been practicing the past two weeks on scoring goals. Part of that was taking shots from outside. Tonight, I came to score. During warm-ups, I was taking a lot of shots and I was hitting them on target so when I was in the game, I felt like I could crush it and it would be on goal.

Was that one of your better goals?

Yes. Certainly one of my better goals. I know there is more to come because now we've set the tone. You need to be confident to shoot. I know I am a good striker of the ball so I just need to start hitting them more often.

On turning down his call-up to the Jamaican National Team to stay with FC Dallas...

Jamaica called me in and playing for them is important to me, I've been playing with them since I was 17... But here, with FC Dallas, I want to go to the playoffs. That is the most important thing to me. I am a competitor. I hate losing. When I lose... I can't sleep. I can't eat. I needed to be here.

On his connection with Fabian Castillo tonight...

On and off the field, Fabian and I are cool. We hang out. We chill. We talk about all kinds of stuff. He is one of my best friends on the team, even though my Spanish is not that good. We catch on and, when we are on the field together, we look for one another. I look for him. He looks for me. He's fast and he is good on the ball, and I think he looks at me the same way. We show each other the same respect.

FC Dallas forward Fabian Castillo

General thoughts on the match...

I am happy with the result, for the team, but I feel like I could have done more. I am happy that I ended up with two assists, but I think I could have helped the team more than I did.

What did you think of Jair's [Benitez] goal?

I didn't think it was going to go in. It was unexpected. I am very happy for Jair that it did go in. I think it'll be the goal of the year.
