FC Dallas on Campus: Academy Players Recap Week 1

The college season started up over the weekend, several FCD Academy alums were in action.

As September rolls into action, so has the college soccer season. Several FC Dallas Academy alumni were in action over the weekend.

Here is how they did in the first weekend of play.

Boyd Okwuono (North Carolina) - The Junior defenseman was a big part of the Tar Heel's opening weekend. UNC struggled in their opener. UNC had to wait until the 103rd minute to knock off Monmouth, but followed up with a win over No. 13 Coastal Carolina on Monday. Through their five games this year (including three preseason contests), UNC have allowed just one goal.

Mikey Ambrose (Maryland) - Ambrose made some news this summer when he went to Sweden for some training with Hammarby but he returned to Maryland where the Terapins struggled in their first weekend of play going 0-1-1 with a loss against at California. The sophomore outside back is one of the few returning players to Maryland's defense, which started freshman at both center back spots and at keeper. Ambrose did not play in the 3-2 loss to Cal.

Nicholas Rochowski (New Mexico) - The redshirt freshman defender from Flower Mound, saw limited time in a 7-2 win over Villanova.

Jake Coleman (Duke) - Came off the bench in both matches at home against Rutgers and Northeastern over the weekend.

Aaron Guillen (Florida Gulf Coast) - The sophomore defender played the full 110 minutes in a 2-2 draw against South Florida.

Mark Ashby (Harvard) - No games played so far for the sophomore defender.

Skylar Jagun (Old Dominon) - The junior midfielder's two games over the weekend were postponed.

Jaime Ibarra (SMU) - The junior keeper from Duncanville went the full 90 in both losses over the weekend. He made three saves in the 2-1 loss at Indiana and then three more in a 2-1 loss to Notre Dame.

Jordan Cano (SMU) - The freshman midfielder did not see the field in either loss over the weekend.

Marco Carrizales (SMU) - The freshman midfielder did not see the field in either loss over the weekend.

Damian Rosales (SMU) - The redshirt junior midfielder started in both losses for the Mustangs.

Caleb Underwood (SMU) - The freshman keeper did not see any action over the weekend.

Abdul Yassine (SMU) - The freshman forward/midfielder did not see the field in either loss over the weekend.

Bobby Edet (Furman) - The freshman striker started in both weekend matches, including the 4-3 win over Xavier. He had one shot in the loss at Akron.

Marco Ortiz (Furman) - The freshman midfielder started the Xavier match and came off the bench against Akron.

Morgan Dizney (Dayton) - The freshman forward did not play in the 4-2 win over IPFW.

Jesus Dominguez (Liberty) - The Freshman defender started in the 1-0 win over Georgia State.

Victor Portillo (Liberty) - The Freshman midfielder did not play in the 1-0 win over Georgia State.

Fernando Laverde (Central Florida) - Started and played 85 minutes in a 0-0 draw with FAU. The freshman defender also had one shot on goal.

Kristoffer Reaves (Wake Forest) - The freshman outside back did not see any minutes in either match for the Demon Deacons this past weekend.
