FC Dallas on Loan: Sanchez and the Strikers Fall to New York Cosmos

The Dallas homegrown keeper lost his first match since the start of the fall season.

It was billed as a rivalry renewed on Saturday for the NASL Fort Lauderdale Strikers. The South Florida club, home to FC Dallas loanees Richard Sanchez and Bradlee Baladez, hosted former rivals the New York Cosmos on the weekend. The Cosmos downed the Strikers 2-0.

A Strikers' club-record 7,653 fans filled the stadium to witness the first match between the sides in South Florida since May 4, 1983. This marks the highest attendance for the Strikers since their rebirth in 2011.

Sanchez went the full 90 in this one, just like he has every game this fall season for the Strikers. The Dallas Homegrown keeper gave up two first half goals to Diomar Díaz. Sanchez ended the match with three saves.

Baladez was a second half sub in this one, going 30 minutes in the loss.

The Strikers will return to action this weekend when they travel to North Carolina to face former FC Dallas manager Colin Clarke and the Carolina Railhawks.
