Recapping The Rankings: Three Beauties

FC Dallas scored three of the prettiest goals this weekend en route to a BIG home victory.

Well deserved celebration....

Nothing short of a victory could help FC Dallas get back in to the playoff hunt. Thankfully, the Hoops delivered with three stunning strikes and defeated the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in front of another solid crowd at Toyota Stadium. FCD finally gets a victory over a team that is not hanging around the cellars of the MLS table. Are the new rankings kind to FC Dallas?

Rank: 11 (last week 14)

Comment: Unbeaten in three, and fittingly moving up the standings. Mauro Diaz looks worth the price of admission on his own, and that Jair Benitez goal will live long in FCD archives.

Rank: 11 (last week 15)

Comment: It was golazos galore for FCD, who used three superlative strikes -- two of them late -- to gain three massive points in the standings and leapfrog the Whitecaps in the process.

Sports Illustrated

Rank: 10 (last week 14)

Comment: FC Dallas refuses to go away. The club has followed up its 11-game winless stretch with a three-game unbeaten streak, with the most recent result being a vital 3-1 victory over Vancouver despite leading scorer Blas Perez's being unavailable. Mauro Diaz and Jair Benitez's game-deciding goals were both of the highlight-reel variety, and they have FCD feeling quite good ahead of a match with Colorado that could catapult the club back into the playoff picture if it can pull out another win.

Bleacher Report

Rank: 11 (last week 14)

Comment: FC Dallas climbed back into the Western Conference playoff race with a much-needed victory over Vancouver. The victory featured two late goals, one from Mauro Diaz to put the Hoops ahead, and the other was scored from 50 yards out by Jair Benitez. With seven matches left to play, Schellas Hyndman's club is two points behind Portland for the final playoff spot out West.
