Recapping The Rankings: Falling Apart

We expected the Hoops to at least put up a fight in Seattle.....

This group has to get it together.

When it rains it pours. Isn't that how that old saying goes? A lot of us were hoping that Dallas could show some sparks that they were ready to come out of their drought after taking the week off and hosting Stoke City. Unfortunately, it seems like this team is in a bigger mess than what we had envisioned for them after starting off the season so well. Let's take a glance at the power rankings. Enter at your own peril. Things are getting VERY ugly.

Rank: 14 (last week 13)

Comment: Weren't shut out in their first 14 games. Have been shut out six times in the eight games since - including their fifth straight.

Rank: 15 (last week 14)

Comment: Dallas is in free fall in the West, with its 3-0 hammering at the hands of Seattle running its winless streak to nine. The midfield was a complete shambles, as FCD was unable to apply pressure defensively. Stringing passes together was a challenge.

Sports Illustrated

Rank: 14 (last week 10)

Comment: Remember the team that started off the season as the hottest in MLS? Seems like quite a long time ago that FCD was running the show, and after another defeat, one that extended the club's winless streak to nine games, Schellas Hyndman's side is grasping for air and on the outside of the playoff race looking in. A 6-1-1 start has given way to a 2-5-7 rut, and it doesn't get much easier with consecutive games against the Galaxy and Timbers next on the docket.

Bleacher Report

Rank: 12 (last week 12)

Comment: The FC Dallas landslide continued on Saturday in Seattle. Schellas Hyndman's club has failed to win a match since May 25, which is a span of nine matches.

Rank: 14 (last week 13)

Comment: There are zero signs that Dallas is turning things around anytime soon. They easily could have lost 6-0 at Seattle this past Saturday.

Soccer America

Rank: 15 (last week 11)

Comment: FCD, which led the conference as late as June 22, has not won in its last nine games.
