Quote Sheet:

FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman

Overall thoughts on the game...

It was an exciting game by two teams that played really hard. The heat took a lot out of both teams. We scored early, and I'm disappointed we gave up a goal with less than a minute in the first half. That changed the whole environment in the locker room.

On Erick...

With 10-15 minutes left in the first half, they were getting through us, and Erick was cramping already, so the fitness level is something that concerned us. He's exactly what we've been looking for - a true holding midfielder who has a little bit of bite. He's athletic and makes good passes. But once he got tired people were running by him, and I felt like we had to get him off the field. He was ready to come off when we subbed him out, but I think he'll be a very good player for us once he's fit.

On Kellyn Acosta...

He was versatile. We all knew he was going to be a good player for us. He just turned 18 a couple weeks ago. I know all the players on our team have a lot of confidence in him. I know David (Ferreira) has come to me a couple of times saying, 'Coach, give him a chance. I think he'll be OK.' His chance came against Stoke City and a little bit against Seattle. I thought tonight would be a great time to start him. He did a very good job. I'm very pleased for him and pleased for his family because I know they're proud of him.

On ending the goal drought...

We've really been struggling, and I think we could make a lot of excuses - Raúl (Fernandez) is gone. Blas (Perez) has been gone - but I think a big part of our goal drought is we just haven't been attacking enough. We just have not penetrated. We've sat back and tried to defend, and when someone does try to go through, they're by themselves. After I talked with the team the other day, today it was our number one priority. Let's penetrate. Let's get services in; let's force them back on their heels. Let's force them to make mistakes. You can see that we're starting to get on the end of free kicks. If you want to score goals, you have to have the mentality that you're going to score goals, and you have to go forward.

FC Dallas defender/midfielder Kellyn Acosta

On the result...

The team gained more confidence. We felt like we knew what we had to do in a sense. We got back to our ways. Hopefully we can carry it on to the next game, score more goals and get a win.

On getting his first start...

I think it went decent. As a team, I thought we did pretty well. We finished our chances; that was key. We scored early and gained momentum. Unfortunately we lost one before the half ended. That was a blow to us, but we continued pushing and fighting, and we got a result in the end."

On playing playing against LA Galaxy with Landon Donovan and Robbie Keane...

I look at it just as another game. Landon and Robbie are obviously players I need to watch out for. You just have to limit their chances in front of goal. They're obviously special players so they're going to get a few here and there, but you just have to limit them as much as you can.

On playing midfield...

I haven't played there in a little bit, but I was excited to be in there and get a few touches. I felt like I did better as an outside back. I guess I just had the game more in front of me, so I felt a little more comfortable there.

On Blas Perez's goals...

He came in clutch for us. That's what we need from him. He's a goal scorer; that's what he came to do. Thankfully he put some in and helped the team.

FC Dallas forward Blas Perez

General thoughts on the match...

The team wanted the win, but we didn't get it. However, we finally got a goal or three.

Is this a start to turning things around...

The only thing that changes is that you get out of the bad rut you have when you're not scoring goals, but the objective is to start getting three points at home. Every game we play at home, we need to get three points if we want to get into the position that we were in earlier in the year.

Can you describe each of your goals?

On the first goal, I got position on the center back and managed to beat him to the ball and tap it in. On the second, the ball came down, directly to me. It's something you don't think about. You just react and take the shot, the ball either goes in or it doesn't.

Can you comment on the recent signing of Panamanian players by MLS?

I feel very happy to have more Panamanians playing in MLS. I feel that, in a way, I managed to get the door open, by already being in the league and helping Panamanians look at this league, as well as the Gold Cup and the performances the national team had there. I am very happy for them as well as seeing more Panamanians in the league.

FC Dallas Midfielder Jackson

Talk about the shot you had late in the second half where it hit the post...

I really thought the ball was going to go in. I had confidence in the shot. It was well hit and I thought it was going in.

Was there a sense of relief after that first goal?

Yes, it was very important to score that first goal for us since it was on all our minds. It gave us assurance and the relief we needed

Do you feel that never say die attitude you guys had earlier in the year again?

Yes, I do. It's really important in this part of the season. We need to come back and gain confidence. It was a great evening, not a win, but was a great performance by everybody.

How do you feel right now after this game and the mood of the team overall?

I feel good right now. What we need to do is return to our winning ways. This is very important, especially at the end of the season.
