The Major League Soccer season is always a set of streaks and right now FC Dallas is in the middle of a slump. The Hoops hit the road Sunday night to face the LA Galaxy and came away with nothing from the 2-0 loss, extending their winless run to six games.
LA got two second half goals from Marcelo Sarvas and Hector Jimenez to more than seal the three points on the night. The win also moved LA to within a point of FC Dallas in the overall standings.
The Galaxy just controlled the game throughout as they outshot Dallas by a massive margin of 22-6 and created more than a dozen good chances on the night that caused a lot of issues for Raul Fernandez and the rest of the back line. One could say that the game would have been far worse had it not been for Fernandez and the play of Stephen Keel.
Dallas really struggled on the evening as they failed to generate any real chances thanks to the Galaxy sniffing out the attack as it tried to move through David Ferreira. LA was all over Ferreira on the night as anytime he touched the ball, there were white Galaxy shirts surrounding him immediately.
FC Dallas manager Schellas Hyndman opted for a different line up on the evening, putting Je-Vaughn Watson and Fabian Castillo on the wings. The result didn't pan out as he had hoped.
The Hoops did get plenty of corner kick chances on the game but none really tested the Galaxy keeper Carlo Cudicini.
With the loss, Dallas now remains in second place in the Western Conference on 31 points. They'll return home this weekend to face league point leaders Real Salt Lake.
