George John, Walker Zimmerman not on travel roster to LA

Defensive depth will be tested again.

For the second straight game, FC Dallas will be dipping into their defensive depth as they hit the road to face Western Conference rivals LA Galaxy this weekend.

Veteran defender George John and rookie Walker Zimmerman are both not traveling with the team this weekend to Los Angeles and will not be available for Sunday's game.

This will be John's third straight game away from the team as he is nursing a nagging hamstring strain.

Schellas Hyndman will likely have to turn to Stephen Keel to make his second straight start in the back with Matt Hedges against the Galaxy. Thankfully Thursday night against Chivas USA, Keel showed that he is more than capable of stepping up in the place of John and Zimmerman in the defense.

"I thought he did very well," FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman said of Keel. "I thought he marked his man well, attacked the ball well and kept it very simple."

Dallas also has options in the back with Homegrown stars London Woodberry and Kellyn Acosta, both set to be on the bench on Sunday. Michel is also available to slide in on the defense with the return of Je-Vaughn Watson from suspension too.

Hyndman mentioned after the Chivas game that both Zimmerman and John were likely going to be good to go for next week's home game with league point leaders Real Salt Lake. If anything, saving John from two physical games in one week was probably a wise thing.
