Both Michel and Kenny Cooper earned honors this week from MLS for their performance against the Seattle Sounders last weekend. Kenny was #9 this week on the MLSSoccer.com Castrol Index Weekly Top 20 for his performance on Saturday night. Cooper was the top performer on the list that didn't get in a full 90 minutes and had the least minutes of anyone on the list. Maybe SH should think about leaving him in for 90 huh?
Michel had multiple honors this week by being on the MLS Team of the Week (story by Nicholas Rosano)......
MF: Michel (FC Dallas) – His prowess on set pieces was on display once more in Seattle, where he scored an olimpico and delivered an assist for Dallas' other goal on the night. Complemented this with another strong performance in the center of the park.
AND his Olimpico goal won him the MLS Goal of the Week prize.
Final Votes - Week 12 (online poll and text vote):
1. Michel (DAL): 49.34%
2. Marvin Chavez (SJ): 22.17%
3. Camilo Sanvezzo (VAN): 13.80%
4. Gershon Koffie (VAN): 7.36%
5. Dominic Oduro (CLB): 7.32%
I know we've all seen the goal a dozen times but it's definitely worth another look.
I'll never get tired of seeing that.
It should also be noted that London Woodberry finished 3rd in the voting for MLS Save of the Week.
FC Dallas held an Academy Day at FC Dallas Stadium last Saturday and both teams had good results. FCD's U18 Academy played to a 1-1 draw while the U16 team won 3-0. FCDallas.com has a video recap.
It looks like the team had a decent turnout and it's great that the "Baby Hoops" had a chance to play on the senior team's field in front of fans.
The team announced this week that they have started a shuttle service to home games from two local bars. The bus will pick up and drop off fans at both The Londoner Addison and The Ginger Man in Plano.
The all-new FCD Express Bus Program was designed to make it easier and safer for fans to attend FC Dallas home games in 2013. For every available date, fans have the option of purchasing a ticket to that day's match AND a round-trip bus ticket to FC Dallas Stadium ($25) or a stand-alone round-trip bus ticket ($10). There is currently one route, with additional routes planned for the future.
This is a great option for people and I don't mean to be a downer but one thing about this bothers me. Is picking people up/dropping them off at bars necessarily the safest thing? To be fair though I do think that it's a great idea and a wonderful option for people who don't want to mess with the traffic around FC Dallas Stadium and it's certainly better than nothing.
The Hoops play 2 road games next week with the first game in Florida against the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers next Tuesday for FCD's opening game in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup.
FC Dallas will have their hands full on Tuesday night traveling to Florida to face off against NASL-side Fort Lauderdal Strikers, but should they advance, a possible second Texas Derby in Frisco awaits Schellas Hyndman's men.
US Soccer conducted the fourth-round draw for the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup on Wednesday morning and FC Dallas was presented with a home match against either the Houston Dynamo(MLS) or FC Tucson(PDL) at FC Dallas Stadium on Wednesday, June 12.
FCD will contest their third-round Lamar Hunt US Open cup match at Fort Lauderdale's Lockhart Stadium on Tuesday, May 28th at 6:30PM.
We shouldn't expect to see many starters at this game but it should still be an easy win on paper. The potential for us to play the Dynamo at home in the fourth round should add a little extra motivation to the Hoops game. I still haven't heard whether there will be a live stream of this game but I will let you all know as soon as I find one. If anyone finds one please let us know in the comments below.

The San Jose Earthquakes have been hot and cold lately with a 1-1-3 record over their last five games with their last loss being a 4-0 blowout by the Sounders just one week before FC Dallas lost to Seattle 4-2.
Our own Drew Epperley has his weekly match up breakdown at FCDallas.com.
This is a game that FC Dallas has to control from start to finish. They’ve done well at home this year, but this isn’t a game they can relax in. If they play to their strengths up front and are calm and collected in the back, they’ll end the night with another three points
I think it's very important for Dallas to bounce back after the tough loss on the road last weekend. I think the outcome could very well depend on what XI players Dallas put on the field.
The most comprehensive match day preview out there is up at MLSSoccer.com.
Their long undefeated run put to an end, FC Dallas return home to face last year’s Supporters’ Shield winners, the San Jose Earthquakes, in a key Western Conference matchup Saturday evening in Frisco. Still Western Conference leader, FCD went down to defeat for the first time in 10 games last weekend, dropping a 4-2 decision at Seattle Sounders FC. The Quakes have won just once in their last nine games, following a 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids at Buck Shaw Stadium last weekend.
Their breakdown has everything from the ref crew, team news, and (unfortunately) the recaps of the team's last game. It's a great resource to MLS puts out there for those who need to know everything going into the game.
The Quakes are in the early stages of building themselves a soccer specific stadium in San Jose and the team had asked the fans to give their input on what some of the aspects of the stadium should look like. SJEarthquakes.com has the story.
"We solicited feedback for the stadium seat color and we received a huge number of responses," Kaval continued. "Blue was the overwhelming choice by our fans and true to our word of giving our fans a voice, we have chosen blue for the seat color. That is also the reason that we chose to spell out Quakes in the seats."
Another thing the team has done to make the fans feel like they're more a part of the process by offering up a 24/7 live webcam of the construction site of the new stadium. It's not much to look at now but what a cool thing to be able to watch. Kudos to the Quakes front office.
Another really cool thing they have done is allow fans to take a 3D tour of the new facility and even select your individual season tickets AND be able to see what the view will be like from those seats. The innovation has to be commended.
I may respect what their FO has done for their fans but I still hope they leave Frisco today with no point. Thanks as always for stopping by guys and I hope to se you all out in the Beer Garden this evening.
