New feature alert: Each week (or so) here at BigDSoccer.com, we will take a look at the FC Dallas players you should be looking at to add to your Fantasy Manager team. To join the BDS group, use code 9134-1792.
Each week in MLS Fantasy Manager you get three players from any club. I'm here to give you a look at which FC Dallas players should be on your roster going into this weekends' match with the New England Revolution. I can tell you know that I have both Jackson and Matt Hedges on my roster for the week.
MIchel ($5.0M, 24 points) - He is listed as a defender in this game but the more we see him in the midfield, the better his value could end up being in the long run. Last week he brought in eight points in the win over RSL. When he goes the full 90 and helps bring in clean sheets like last week, that goes a long way. Now if he start adding some offensive numbers to his game, this could be an extremely smart pick up.
Top Picks for Week 5
Jackson Goncalves ($7.6M, 27 points) - If you had Jackson last week, kudos. The Brazilian midfielder racked in a goal and an assist on the week against Real Salt Lake. His constant pressure on the ball and speed gives any team trouble, which makes for a good match up against New England. He's still relatively cheap when you compare him to the other top midfielders in the game.
Matt Hedges ($5.1M, 24 points) - I'll admit, I picked him up back at Week 2 before the Chivas game and was a bit worried about keeping him long term. But his price is pretty good for a defender, especially one that is making goal-line saves. New England is a good matchup for him this weekend due to their lack of offense. Jerry Bengston could be trouble but given how MIchel and Andrew Jacobson handled RSL's front two and Luis Gil last week, I like my chances with Hedges.
Raul Fernandez ($5.5M, 15 points) - The Peruvian keeper should be back between the sticks this weekend. How he handles the turf will be a big question mark that I have (but more on that later). As good as Chris Seitz was a week ago, Fernandez has been training all week with the club and should be the starter this weekend.
Blas Perez ($9.0M, 2 points) - It is really tough to gage whether or not Perez is the right buy for this week. But if you have some change left over and a forward spot open, picking him up for this week and next (at Toronto FC) could be a wise move. I look at Perez as a high risk, high reward type pickup in this game as it is. When he is on, he is worth having and he did pick up a goal for Panama on Tuesday night against Honduras.
Fabian Castillo ($8.4M, 20 points) - I love his speed but there is a good chance he'll be coming off the bench in this one, which means less chance for full match points. If he can be the spark plug that we know he can be off the bench and contribute on a goal, then this pick up is all worth it.
Stay away from
Aside from the injured guys like Ugo Ihemelu, Peter Luccin and rookie Walker Zimmerman, and the big amount of Homegrown players on the roster, I'd stay clear of using a roster spot on:
Je-Vaughn Watson ($6.5M, 8 points) - When there are better and cheaper FCD midfielders out there (Jacobson), this pickup makes little sense in my book. Also, with the more that Michel plays in the midfield, the less likely he'll get used here.
