The end of the year is here. So we're recapping our top stories of the year. We've already done preseason through August, howe we look at the final months of the season and the first part of the offseason.
September came around with the club's playoff chances looking grim. But the big news to kick off the month was that of the stadium naming rights being sold to Toyota. FC Dallas Stadium became Toyota Stadium.
After that news the team hosted Vancouver in a game that saw three stellar goals in a 3-1 win. Jair Benitez's long range bomb is still my favorite.
Peter Luccin would be removed from the injured reserve, while Eric Hassli would be moved to the DL.
As October came around, we wondered if this was the last of Hyndman. We also said that player would be playing for their contracts. FCD would draw their next game with RSL, despite being up a man for some of that match.
FCD would also lose their next game, the 2013 Brimstone Cup match with Seattle.
Fans got an early Christmas present the following week as Hyndman announced he would be stepping down after the season was over. FCD would win Hyndman's final home game that weekend, a 2-0 win over Seattle. There was still some ugliness from that game with Jackson and David Ferreira.
As November came, we discussed Fernando Clavijo, wrote a letter to Pareja, learned more about the search, and began our Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down series. We also tackled was went right and wrong in 2013.
In mid-November, we found a report about a possible FCD team in the USL-Pro. Forbes also gave us an updated value on FCD. Right before Thanksgiving, we learned that Ferreira wouldn't be returning in 2014. We also were given the 2014 schedule too.
We went into December without a new coach. Then we found out that Kenny Cooper and the club couldn't reach a new deal. Cooper would later be traded to Seattle for Adam Moffat. We said our good-byes to Kenny, again.
Lastly, we poked fun at ourselves with a recap of our 2013 season predictions.
