A look at FC Dallas Player Contracts

The list of players with option years is a fairly interesting one.

Some of you are probably wondering what the status is of certain player contracts. On Friday, Steve Hunt over at 3rdDegree.net was able to get with FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo to break down which contracts are expiring and who still has years left.

There are some players below that I am sure many of you will be very curious about. Below are those who have option years and expiring contracts.

Player Name Contract Status
Chris Seitz Option
Kyle Zobeck Option
Jair Benitez Option
Stephen Keel Option
David Ferreira Option
Jackson Option
Andrew Jacobson Option
Peter Luccin Option
Michel Option
Ramon Nunez Option
Bobby Warshaw Option
Je-Vaughn Watson Option (two option years)
Kenny Cooper Option
Jonathan Top Option
Player Name Contract Status
Ugo Ihemelu Expiring Contract
Zach Loyd Expiring Contract
Victor Ulloa Expiring Contract

Looking at this list you'll notice that guys like Eric Hassli are not listed. He has one year remaining. Fabian Castillo has three years remaining on his current deal, yes three. Raul Fernandez has three years remaining as well.

But to me the big story is the amount of midfield players listed with options left. Talk about a potential blow-up of the roster. Several of those players will be back, I can almost bet on it. Cooper being one, I don't see him going anywhere just yet.

I don't see any of those three expiring contracts getting renewed either.

The Re-Entry Draft for FC Dallas may be an interesting one this year. There is a potential to have a slew of players let go and placed in that league process. I think it is safe to say that this offseason will be one of the most interesting ones we've ever seen here in North Texas.
