FC Dallas locked down some major defensive depth today, officially announcing the signing of Maryland defender London Woodberry to a Homegrown contract.
Woodberry, who was a member of the inaugural FC Dallas Academy team, was projected to be a first-round draft pick had he not been Homegrown eligible. A center back in his last couple years at Maryland, Woodberry figures to slot in at outside back for FC Dallas filling the gap left by the departure of Carlos Rodriguez.
A two-time All-ACC pick, Woodberry had somewhat of a breakout year as a senior, earning third-team All-American honors.
Additionally, FCD announced that they've come to terms with center back Stephen Keel. Selected in the second round of the Re-Entry Draft, Keel has spent the last two years with New York and figures to be in the mix at center back.
Both signings help to provide some serious defensive depth for FC Dallas with Keel taking the spot vacated by Hernan Pertuz and Woodberry taking Carlos Rodriguez's spot.
