Latest On Ugo Ihemelu

Dallas Morning News reports that things aren't progressing well.

Concussions are a pain in the butt to get over. I can personally attest to that as I had my share of them during my playing days. For FC Dallas defender Ugo Ihemelu, he is still getting over his latest concussion that kept him out of the majority of the 2012 MLS season.

The Dallas Morning New's Saturday print edition with Steve Hunt stated that things aren't progressing well with the Cedar Hill native. (Hat tip to 3rdDegree.Net for posting this quote)

"The update was not a good one. Ugo is not progressing as planned. The first priority for the team is his health. We have a meeting scheduled in a couple of days with Ugo to really come to terms with where we are," said FC Dallas technical director Fernando Clavijo.

Ihemelu's health has been a big topic of discussion for several months now. He was hopeful that he could return to full health in 2013 and even appeared to be on that positive course late in 2012 during the club's final weeks of training.

The notion of moving Ihemelu to right back still seems like a good option for him if/when he gets the doctor's approval to play. Still, the gamble is there either way if he plays as he could be one more heat bump away from ending his career.

Once we get another update from Clavijo or Schellas Hyndman we will pass it along to you all here.
