FC Dallas fans are growing impatient while the coaching search continues. Today, we have learned that one more name has been crossed off the list of potential coaching candidates for the North Texas side.
ESPNFC's Jeffrey Carlisle now says the Sounders have told him that assistant coach Brian Schmetzer won't be taking the FC Dallas head coaching job.
So much for momentum. Seattle spokesman says that Brian Schmetzer "will be staying in Seattle" and is not going to Dallas. #fcd #SoundersFC

There had been talks that Schmetzer was 'gaining momentum' in the running for this position.
FC Dallas has reportedly talked to US U-15 head coach Hugo Perez, former DC and Vancouver coach Tom Soehn, and Houston Dynamo assistant Steve Ralston for the open job. Former Columbus Crew midfielder and current Lanus manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto has been linked to the opening but FCD technical director Fernando Clavijo has denied any contact with the former league MVP according to ESPNFC.
Personally, I was beginning to really hope that Schmetzer was 'the guy' for FCD. But now those thoughts are dashed.
The timeline that has been tossed around lately is still 'before Christmas'. Hearing that one name that was potentially high on the list not being there anymore makes me wonder even more where this is headed and how long it could eventually be drawn out.
Tick tock.
