Before you read the FCD recap, be sure to check out my MLS on Campus feature from this week that highlights a local product coming good at SDSU and some players FCD may have on their radar this winter.

London Woodberry - Senior Central Defender -Mikey Ambrose - Freshman Defender - University of Maryland

Woodberry: 8 starts - 0 goals

Ambrose: 8 starts - 1 goal

Congratulations go out to Mike Ambrose who scored his first ever goal for the Terps in a 2-0 win over Virginia Tech last weekend. The ACC has the whole game uploaded to YouTube and Mikey's goal is at 54:45(Click here to view)

Maryland followed up the VA Tech win with a 4-0 thumping of Georgia State. They have a road match at College of Charleston this weekend.

Maryland is pretty much the consensus #1 team in the country and half of their backline is FCD academy guys...that's a fact that I really like. Woodberry is his same solid self, starting every game as the defensive anchor for a Maryland team that has four shutouts in their last six games.

The more success Maryland has and more positive things I hear about Woodberry makes me think that he could actually be a contributing part of FC Dallas as soon as the middle of next season. His versatility of playing every position across the backline will find him some minutes.

Jaime Ibarra - Goalkeeper - Damian Rosales - Midfielder - Southern Methodist University

Ibarra - 9 starts - 10 goals against - 2 shutouts

Rosales - 9 games - 0 goals

SMU let a lead slip late against Cal Bakersfield last Thursday, but Jaime Ibarra stepped up HUGE in man of the match performance. Ibarra saved a PK with two minutes left in overtime to preserve the draw for SMU. I was at the match and he made a total of eight saves, including some real stunners.

It really wouldn't shock me at all, depending on the goalkeeping situation in a couple years, to see Ibarra in as the 3rd keeper on FCD after he graduates. Friday's performance was very impressive.

The Ponies scored a massive 2-1 win over South Carolina to open their CUSA account on Sunday. They have a road game at UAB tomorrow before hosting Tulsa and Kentucky next weekend.

Bradlee Baladez - Forward - University of South Carolina

9 starts - 2 goals

Learn a little bit more about Bradlee by watching this Gamecock Insider piece on him.

Bradlee leads the Gamecocks with two goals on the probably never want your top scorer to have just two goals through nine games. The fact is that SC is really poor on offense through their first 9 games with only six goals scored.

The Gamecocks had a really tough weekend, losing 4-0 at Tulsa and 2-1 at SMU to open their CUSA account at 0-2. With three straight home conference games coming up, they'll have a chance to turn things around.

Boyd Okwuono - Defender - Danny Garcia - Winger - University of North Carolina

Okwuono - 8 starts - 0 goals

Garcia - 7 starts - 0 goals - 5 assists

Business as usual for UNC this week. Two 1-0 wins including one against Wofford earlier this week in which they were down to ten men in the first 15 minutes. Garcia had a very nice assist in the win over Virginia this weekend while Okwuono anchors a defense that has a three-game shutout streak going and has allowed one goal in five games.

You can get a look at the Okwuono, Garcia and the Tar Heels tonight as they face Duke with the game broadcast live on YouTube.

Jack Coleman - Defender - Duke University

Coleman - 8 games - 4 starts - 0 goals

Duke secured a respectable scoreless draw at Wake Forest, but fell 2-1 at UNC-Wlilmington this weekend. That loss is one that will really disappoint them, but they'll have a great chance to bounce back with a result over UNC.

The good news is Coleman started both matches and looks to have won a starting spot on the back line.

Skylar Hagan - Winger - Old Dominion University

Hagan - 7 starts - 0 goals

ODU fell back to earth this week, losing 4-1 to Drexel. Hagan and the Monarchs host George Mason on Fox Soccer Channel tonight.

Jacob Gerondale - Defender- IPFW

Gerondale - 5 games - 2 starts - 0 goals

Gerondale played in the Mastodons losses to UMKC and Kentucky. They're having a really tough season.

Aaron Guillen - Defender - Florida Gulf Coast University

Guillen - 8 games - 7 starts - 0 goals

FGCU earned a respectable 2-2 draw with UCF at home and lost 3-0 at USF in non-conference play. Guillen started both games and is presumably having a nice freshman campaign.

Mark Ashby - Defender - Harvard University

Ashby - 6 starts - 0 goals

Harvard lost both games on the western conference trip but kept things close losing 2-1 to Cal Poly and 1-0 to UCSB. Ashby seems to have won a starting spot for the crimson as a freshman.

Nick Rochowski - Defender/Midfielder - University of New Mexico

Rochowski - 0 starts

Rochowski has not featured for the Lobos yet in his freshman year.

Eduardo Cortes - Goalkeeper - IUPUI

11 games - 3 shutouts

Cortes has earned the starting spot at IUPUI and led them to 1-1 draw at Eastern Illinois and a 2-1 win over Valpo.

The FCD USSDA Academy season starts this weekend as the U18s look to defend their national championship with a revamped roster. I'll have much more on that next week.
