FCD Academy Graduates Preview

London Woodberry - Central Defender -Mikey Ambrose - Defender - University of Maryland Senior

London, Mikey and the Terrapins enjoyed just about as good of an opening weekend as anyone in the country. The Terps opened with a 3-0 win over #7 Louisville. Both Woodbery and Ambrose started for Maryland and went 90 minutes.

It's particularly great to see Ambrose starting from day one as a freshman. Not that I'm surprised, but you never know. My man Travis Clark of Top Drawer Soccer was on the scene and the words he used to describe Woodberry's performance included beast, all over the place in a good day, winning everything. I like, I like.

Huge weekend coming up for the Terps with UCLA coming to town on Friday and Cal-Berkley coming in on Sunday.

Bradlee Baladez - Forward - University of South Carolina

Baladez and the Gamecocks had a winning start to their season, defeating College of Charleston(VIDEO) 1-0.

Bradlee started the game and had two shots on goal and didn't figure in the USC goal. The Gamecocks have an equally big weekend hosting the Gamecock Classic tournament with games against St. Johns and Northwestern.

Jaime Ibarra - Goalkeeper - Damian Rosales - Midfielder - Southern Methodist University

Not a good start to the season for the Mustangs who drew at home with Campbell University 1-1. On the positive side, both Ibarra and Rosales played the entire match with Jaime making an amazing eight saves.

SMU travels to Tulsa this weekend for a brutal couple of games in the Hurricane Classic against top ten teams USF and New Mexico.

Boyd Okwuono - Defender - Danny Garcia - Winger - University of North Carolina

Okwuono started in the shutout win and while Garcia didn't start his first match in college, he certainly made his mark grabbing two assists which you can see in the highlights posted above(2nd and 3rd goals).

It's a huge weekend upcoming for the Tar Heels, hosting West Virginia on Friday and Boston University on Sunday.

Jack Coleman - Defender - Duke University

Duke traveled to #18 Notre Dame on the opening night of the season and dropped a 1-0 result. Jack Coleman played 26 minutes off the bench, which I'm pretty happy about considering it's more minutes than he played all of last season at Indiana. I'll be very surprised if he's not starting by mid-season.

He should get plenty of playing time this weekend as the Blue Devils host Santa Clara and Delaware

Skylar Hagan - Winger - Old Dominion University

ODU had a great opening weekend beating Navy 4-0. Hagan started the match for ODU which is ranked as high as #13 in one poll. They travel to UCF for a tough matchup this weekend.

Jacob Gerondale - Defender- IPFW

Gerondale started and played 68 minutes in the Mastodons 3-0 loss to Detroit. They play Western Michigan and Marshall next weekend.

Aaron Guillen - Defender - Florida Gulf Coast University

It was a trial by fire at center back for Guillen this week as FGCU lost 4-0 at #2 Akron (Highlights) and then dropped a 1-0 decision at #16 Georgetown on a late goal. Guillen started both games which is a fantastic sign and I still think he transfers to a bigger school before his college career is over. FGCU hosts Bucknell this weekend

Mark Ashby - Defender - Harvard University

Harvard's season starts on Friday at UMASS and continues Sunday at Northeastern

Nick Rochowski - Defender/Midfielder - University of New Mexico

The Lobos made arguably the biggest statement in the country last weekend traveling to #2 UCLA and disposing of them 3-2.

Rochowski did not play in the match. The Lobos play vs Tulsa and SMU in Tulsa this weekend.
