Just eight days ago, FC Dallas was 11 points out of a playoff spot with thoughts looking more towards the 2013 MLS Superdraft than the 2012 MLS playoffs. However, a three-game winning streak, Dallas' first since July 2011, has FCD five points behind both Vancouver and Los Angeles with seven games to play.

First some numbers then thoughts on a stunning win for FC Dallas at Rio Tinto Stadium:

-First win for Schellas Hyndman at RSL in the regular season (0-5-0)

-FC Dallas is 5-2-3 in ten games with Ferreira back good for 18 points in ten games...Dallas had 14 points in the other 17 games.

-Ferreira has two goals and four assists in his last four games with six assists on the season, tied with Jackson for the team lead

-Fabian Castillo has goals in his last three games and five goals on the season, tied for the team lead.

Ferreira Factor What else can you say about the guy. I've never seen anything like how one person has completely changed a season like this....and he was "dead" midway through the second half.

The Performance It wasn't good, there's no denying that. However, at this point all that really matters is the scoreline. Dallas was playing the third game in eight days at a place that Schellas Hyndman had never won before and coming off a brutally physical game three days ago. Basically the entire team collapsed on the pitch after the game out of exhaustion. What a gutsy performance.

FCD Center Backs George John and Matt Hedges were absolutely unreal tonight. Hedges especially was simply dominant both in the air and on the ground. After the game, Hyndman thought that Hedges was ok, though obviously there will be more tests and you felt his absence immediately. Hyndman said he didn't think RSL would've scored if Matt had been in there and it's tough to disagree with him.

5 Points Just five points separate Dallas and Vancouver/LA, amazing considering the deficit was 11 points just eight days ago. FCD heads to LA next Sunday night with a chance to cut the deficit to two points and they don't have a midweek game the rest of the season. I'm not sure whether playoffs happen or not, but things should be pretty fun for the next month or so...
