Andrew Wiedeman Undergoes Sports Hernia Surgery

New, 6 comments

Tough blow to Schellas Hyndman's midfield depth yet again.

FC Dallas midfielder Andrew Wiedeman underwent successful surgery to repair a sports hernia on Monday. Dr. Ernest Beecherl performed the surgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas. Wiedeman is expected to miss four to six weeks with the injury.

Hate to see something like this for a young player that is fighting for playing time. Wiedeman had a strong preseason but has yet to see any significant playing time on the field this season.

Losing another midfield player is definitely a major blow to the depth in the midfield right now. Time for Hyndman to make a call or two here to make some changes. Maybe time to really page Jackson Goncalves or even work a trade within Major League Soccer.

Wiedeman is only going to miss about two months of play but looking out busy May will be for the club, it will be time to get some help in now before things get worse in the depth department.
