While George John and Schellas Hyndman were not immediately available after the contract extension announcement, John's agent Ted Philipakos, someone I have a good relationship with, was available to shed a little bit of light on what brought about the new contract.

I wrote about it for MLSsoccer.com.

John turned down offers from major clubs in Greece, Israel and Scandinavia to stay in Frisco, something that looked to be unlikely just a few months ago.

"We did have some interesting options abroad from some prominent clubs that have participated or are still participating in Europe right now,” Philipakos said. “But Fernando’s pitch did stand out. … I think his desire to win is very evident and he sold George on his plan to win.”

In speaking to Ted, he was extremely complementary of Fernando Clavijo in stepping up to the table and making sure the deal got done to bring George back. This is obviously a huge boon to FC Dallas who has one of their major pieces in place for years to come.
