FC Dallas Signs Brazilian Forward Wesley 'Pipico' Silva

The 27-year old forward recently played for Vasco da Gama in Brazil.

Time to check another item off the offseason list. FC Dallas announced Tuesday that they have signed Vasco da Gama forward Wesley "Pipico" Silva.

The 27-year old will join the club pending the receipt of his P-1 visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC).

The interesting nugget in this signing if the honesty that head coach Schellas Hyndman offered in the press release about Pipico.

"Pipico is a dynamic player who gives us some depth at the forward position and allows us to transition into playing in a 4-4-2 system," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He is an intelligent attacking player with solid finishing ability."

A move to a 4-4-2 system is something Hyndman and Technical Director Fernando Clavijo have been hinting at this entire offseason. Adding a piece like Pipico certainly helps facilitate that move.

Between 2010 and 2012, Pipico scored 19 goals and added 26 assists in 45 matches in the Brazilian Carioca Serie A and Serie C Championships.

You can view his information over at Wikipedia all you want, the fact remains we can't judge this guy too much just based on those tiny bits of information alone. Pipico was mainly a sub in Vasco da Gama's system over the last year, coming off the bench in the "super-sub" kind of role.

What do you all make of this signing?
