FCD takes their last CCL road trip of the group stage tonight as they're in Panama City to face Tauro FC for the second time in two weeks. Dallas disappointingly drew with Tauro 1-1 in Frisco two weeks ago today in a game that saw Daniel Cruz score the fastest goal in team history, but Tauro peg them back with a penalty late in the first half while actually looking like the team more likely to win the game in the second half.
Game notes
Cannot assure passage tonight Dallas cannot officially ensure passage tonight, here are the scenarios: Should Dallas win tonight, they will simply need to not lose to Toronto on the final match day by more than 1 goal. The tiebreaker scenarios are outlined here. Should Dallas lose or draw tonight, they will need to draw or beat Toronto FC on the final matchday to ensure passage. If Dallas can win tonight and win against Toronto on matchday 6, they will finish top of the group.
Lots of players left at home No Brek Shea, Daniel Hernandez or Jackson due to suspension while Ricardo Villar has been left at home due to fatigue. Robert Casner speculates that Maykel Galindo will get his chance tonight up top with Castillo on the left, Chavez on the right and a center of Warshaw, Jacobson and Cruz. I'm very excited about this lineup as teams have had their way down the wings with Dallas the last few weeks and the speed of Castillo and Chavez should do a ton to alleviate that.
Getting out of Dallas While you'd think that playing at home would be an advantage, I think it will be good for FCD to get away from the pressures of home and get back on track against a team they know they can beat. Look for Warshaw, Castillo and Chavez to make all the difference tonight while Galindo should be as motivated as it gets playing for a potential look in 2012.
Prediction
Surely tonight is the night Dallas breaks their duck. There's speed all over the field and I think it will be enough tonight against a Tauro team that must go for a win. Trinity Hall tonight for me if anyone wants to join.
