Damn....in the final, and arguably most important, game of the long run, Dallas falls to Seattle Sounders FC 1-0 to crash out of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup at the semi-final stage. It was an extremely closely fought game that ebbed and flowed with each team coming close multiple times but in the end, Freddy Montero decided things with a brilliant strike late in the first half to win the game.
In the second half, Marvin Chavez would crash one off the post and send another chance wide late in the game in a second half that FC Dallas dominated but just couldn't get the game tying goal.
We'll have a lot more tomorrow on this one, but now FCD turns their attention to MLS play and the run in to MLS Cup. With 11 days between now and the next competitive game, Dallas has a chance to finally rest up and get back to the first choice lineup that was tearing through the league in May and June.
