FC Dallas News Update 8/22

I wouldn't say Dallas is in a crisis, but I think a lot of fans are getting nervous after failing to win any of the last 3 games, even if they were against 3 of the top 5 teams in the league. Dallas is flying high in Champions League and heads to Toronto on Wednesday for another important group stage match.

Somewhat luckily, Toronto played just yesterday in Chicago with the Fire winning 2-0 for the first victory in ten games. Toronto FC and company thought it was mostly bad luck.

That’s football," head coach Aron Winter said. "At the moment you unlock, then those balls are going to go in. But at that moment like today when you hit the post twice, often the ball comes back for a rebound and you get a chance for a shot on goal, but it didn’t go in the goal.

The George John transfer saga could come to an end soon. This report suggests he's due in England today for a physical. Of course, I had people telling me he was in England for a physical on Friday while he was at FCD training. Take everything the British media says with a grain of salt.

Kean also said he was expecting a defender to fly in for a medical today after a bid was accepted. It is understood the player in question is FC Dallas centre back George John

In Steve Hunt's post-game notebook on Saturday, he mentions that Dario Sala was at the game and represents a few of the players in the house.

Former Dallas goalkeeper Dario Sala was in the press box at halftime. Sala, who played for FCD from 2005-10, is now an agent who represents four MLS players. One of those, Seattle midfielder Mauro Rosales, scored in the 16th minute. Sala also represents Dallas goalkeeper Richard Sanchez

Don't miss DJ Walker's Stream of Consciousness....the news that he's going to Kansas City makes me look forward to this weekend's road trip even more.

So, if George John gets to go to England, I'll hurt with him a little, because I know he'll be sad to leave. But I'll also rejoice with him, because he's doing something most of us will never get to do: live out his dream.

Steve Hunt has a game recap that's not behind a paywall for the Seattle Times. I didn't realize shots were 25 to 8 in favor of Dallas on Saturday. I guess that makes me a little less worried about the game.

"He came up huge," Schmid said of Keller's four-save performance. "It's bigger than big. He made a huge save at the end of the day for us, also dealt with a lot of the crosses, making sure we stayed marked up and all those things."

Homegrown talent, even in athletic-rich Texas, can be hard to find.

The Mavericks’ best player is German. The Rangers’ and American League’s reigning MVP is from North Carolina. Of the 20 Cowboys in the Ring of Honor, including the latest additions, only Don Meredith and Bob Lilly played high school

Robert Casner wrote that FCD new boy Jeremy Hall had to adjust on the fly Saturday night.

“He told me to go play,” continued Hall. “He’s seen me play before—that’s why they brought me in. They know what I can do, so no excuses.”

Said Hyndman: “I give him a lot of credit for adjusting immediately to the game. I think you can see if you don’t have any depth in your defense, it’s going to be dicey for you.”
