Tonight, FC Dallas will face not only the El Salvadorian Champion Alianza, but they will take them on in one of the icon stadiums of Central America, the Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador.
According to Wikipedia, the stadium's capacity of 44,313 is the largest soccer venue in Central america and also the most modern stadium in the region. It is the national stadium of El Salvador where the national team plays all of their games and the home stadium of Alianza.
I've read reports that there could be upwards of 30,000 there tonight as general admission seats are going for just $3 and the most expensive seat is $18. Children are just $1.
The match that most American soccer fans will remember in Cuscatlan is that wild 2-2 draw between the United States and El Salvador in the 2010 World Cup Qualifying. The full power of Cuscatlan is on display in this video.
Here's a look at the championship game played at Cuscatlan last year in which Alianza won their first championship in many years.
