The last two days in Major League Soccer have been full of trades, mostly with Toronto FC. Apparently the bigger story though could be that the Portland Timbers are considering moving star striker Kenny Cooper to help usher in some big changes to their roster.
My best bet with why Portland would move Cooper so quickly here is the fact that they could have a DP signing lined up but need the extra salary cap space to do it. Moving a contract like Coopers would easily open that kind of room up for one. That or both sides just aren't happy.

So it got me thinking, does Cooper fit in here in Dallas again? Honestly, my gut tells me no. Sure, Dallas has missed that target striker in their system all season and have made several different moves with the formation to "get it right". At times we've seen Fabian Castillo, Marvin Chavez and even Ruben Luna get their time up top. Cooper could easily fit into that role that Chavez has been playing as of late or even would be a decent partner for Chavez too.
Again, its mostly talk that is going on right now. Cooper had a couple quotes that got people's attention and this rumor went from there (like most of them do). I'm sure a handfull of clubs or more are interested in trading for Cooper too. More than likely if anyone is trading for him it should be someone like New England or Toronto.
If Dallas is indeed one of those teams I'm not entirely sure what we have to offer that would work out for everyone involved. Possibly some allocation or draft picks could be involved along with a player (or two). I know of some second or even third string guys I'd gladly give up for him but to mess with the chemistry right now seems like a bad idea to me. But I could be wrong.
Question now becomes, do you want Cooper back if Portland is indeed shopping him? If so, what and who would you give up to get him?
