The seats hits the halfway point tonight as FC Dallas travels to Los Angeles to face Chivas USA. Both teams come into the match on the heels of disappointing losses in their last game. FCD was throttled 4-1 by Sporting Kansas City at home while Chivas dropped a very close fought 2-1 decision at Houston Dynamo.

Game notes:

Chivas USA no pushovers Prior to their loss last weekend, Chivas USA was in a span of ten games with just two losses. They haven't allowed more than one goal at any of their home games since opening weekend and look to be turning things around after a dreadful start to the season.

Homefield Advantage? Not quite FCD fans can take heart in the fact that Chivas USA really isn't any better at home than on the road with just a 2-3-2 home record. There probably won't be much of a crowd at the game either as Mexico plays Guatemala tonight in the Gold Cup Quarterfinals.

How will FCD respond? Obviously last weekend was the worst game of the season. Thankfully, it was also the lowest profile game of the season given the events of last Sunday night in Miami. No one will remember last weekend if FCD comes out and plays well tonight.

Heath Pearce returns We talked about it earlier today, it's Heath Pearce's first game against Dallas. We saw the tempers run high between Pearce and Dallas earlier this year so it will be very interesting to see how the players react to each other tonight.

Solid all around the field Chivas USA is a team without a true star, but they're solid all around the field which is evidenced by having 9 players who have scored a goal this season and four players with at least three goals on the year. Fortunately for Dallas, Alejandro Moreno will be absent on national team duty with Venezuela.

Injury report Not much to speak of on the injury front for FC Dallas other than Ferreira while Chivas USA will be without Jimmy Conrad which isn't really much of an advantage for Dallas.

Keys to the game

Keep playing your game It was one bad game, there's no reason to change what you're doing. Chivas USA is a team Dallas hasn't had a lot of trouble with at the Home Depot Center so hopefully this is one that FCD can use to go on another long unbeaten run.

Get another forward involved Maybe it's Galindo returning to his old club, maybe it's Milton Rodriguez or Ruben Luna who scored against Chivas USA in pre-season, but I'd love to see another forward besides the usual suspects getting some time in this game and some confidence with USOC coming up.

Watch the set pieces There's no doubt Heath Pearce is going to be looking to stick it to his old team. The biggest way he can do that is good service on set pieces and corners. Dallas needs to watch those big time tonight.

Prediction

This is going to be a tough one for FCD. Chivas is a tough team to break down at home, but I feel like FCD is going to give a very good performance given the egg they laid last night. Chivas holds on for the draw though.

1-1 final
