FC Dallas Third Round US Open Cup 2011 Draw Revealed

According to a US Soccer release, FC Dallas will open the 2011 US Open Cup at Pizza Hut Park against either Charleston Battery or Orlando City SC on Tuesday, June 28th at 8PM. Both of these possible opponents will be familiar to FC Dallas as they battled to a 1-0 win over Orlando City in the Walt Disney World Cup this pre-season. 

FCD played Charleston Battery in their last official US Open Cup game back in 2008, getting embarrassed 3-1 on a stormy night at Pizza Hut Park. Dallas has played Charleston Battery in their last three US Open Cup odysseys in 2008, 2007 and 2006.  

Charleston and Orlando both played last night in the Open Cup with the Battery defeating amateur Regals FC from Houston 2-0 while OCSC beat ASC New Stars 4-0. Orlando will travel to Charleston Tuesday to take on the Battery for the right to face FC Dallas in Frisco.
