FC Dallas vs Toronto FC: Matchday 9

Wow, this has become an action packed day in the FC Dallas world. Toronto FC comes to town for a rare midweek MLS home game tonight. Dallas and Collin County are currently under severe thunderstorm warnings so hopefully the storms come through before the game starts. So much stuff to discuss as we head into the game...

Castillo spills the beans We could have a whole post simply on this...Castillo spilled the beans to the DMN as to why practice was closed yesterday.

“The big change is we’re going to be playing with two forwards instead of only one, me on top. I know that if we lose the ball, Marvin [Chavez] and I are going to have to come back and defend as well. That’s going to be the only thing that has changed, two men up top.”

So there it is, Castillo and Chavez up top tonight. I really don't have thoughts on this move other than I really hate throwing something out there that has barely been practiced, but something needed to be done. It looks like speed speed speed tonight against Toronto and an extremely high pressure style of defending. It will probably work against Toronto who's been pretty woeful on the road, but hopefully this is not a long term thing.

Tollway Signage If you take the Tollway to PHP tonight, it looks like

there's a new billboard. You may not be able to find it however, as according to the article it's near Trinity Mills Mall which does not exist.

Jackson returns tonight In a chat with media yesterday, Schellas confirmed that Jackson will be ready to go tonight. Whether that means he starts or not remains to be seen, but you've got to think it will be Loyd on the left and Jackson on the right side of defense with Shea moving back to left mid

Just win baby Nothing less than three points is acceptable in this one. These next two games are really going to tell us a lot about the state of FC Dallas. Two wins would really ease my fears that this team is running on fumes right now. Toronto is just not a very good team on the road and Dallas should win this one.

Weather a factor again The weather radar is pretty sick right now. A huge storm is about to roll over Dallas and Frisco right now meaning there should be cool and wet conditions for the second straight FCD home game. This should help Dallas with the speed-first lineup.

Join me on the stage There shouldn't be a crazy crowd tonight so I'll be on the stage for pre-game $2 beers from about 645 to 730...come join me and talk soccer because there's a ton to discuss. Look for the skinny white dude in a 2005 FC Dallas jersey. Tweet at me if you can't find me.

Prediction

Given the change in formation and everything, this is an extremely tough one to call. I like FC Dallas to get three points tonight at home in a game they need to win.
