It's a bit crazy to think it but the U.S. National teams are getting to the point where they have quality players all the way down to a U-14 bunch. The U.S. Under-14 Boys' National Team will convene for a training camp from May 1-8 at The Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Head coach Manny Schellscheidt has called upon 38 players, including two players from the FC Dallas academy.
Forward Christian Ramirez from Farmer's Branch and midfielder Martin Salas made the camp roster, along with seven other MLS academy players (Columbus, Chicago and New York were the other clubs represented here).
Now these two kids are a long way away from helping out the senior team here but this just shows the level of depth FC Dallas is creating with their academy system here. To have two young players on the national radar is a great thing to see for this age bracket. Who knows, maybe we're looking at two future Home Grown Players here in a couple years.
