FC Dallas will try to get back to the US Open Cup promise land like they did when they won it all back in 1997. Boy those were different times.

The structure and schedule was released today for the 2011 edition of the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup. FC Dallas learned a little bit of their fate in this tournament as they were listed as one of the automatic qualifiers for the tournament and will begin play in the third round on June 28.

Dallas was given an automatic birth due to their top six finish in last year's MLS standings along with the Columbus Crew, the Los Angeles Galaxy, the New York Red Bulls, Real Salt Lake, and the Seattle Sounders.

The first and second rounds will be made up of exclusively lower division and amateur teams and will be played on June 14 and June 21, respectively, with eight teams advancing to play eight MLS teams on June 28 in the third round.

The quarterfinals will be played on July 12 and the semifinals will be played on Aug. 30. The champion will be crowned on Oct. 4. All 2011 U.S. Open Cup matches are scheduled to be played on Tuesdays.
