In an email to Goal.com, Ted Philipakos, George John's agent, revealed more on his contract situation and what is going on with the big center back.

"George feels good about the fact that we have options," Philipakos explained. "If he wants to extend with MLS, we're in a stronger position now than ever before to make a deal that truly reflects his value, at least in the context of the MLS market, while if he wants to move to Europe, he’ll be able to do that in 2012."

"MLS and FC Dallas have approached us about a new contract at various points over the last two years, most recently this summer, and at that point we asked to put the issue on hold until the offseason. I believe we'll be talking more this month," said Philipakos.

It really sounds to me from these quotes and the chats I've had with Ted that John is willing to stay in Dallas for the right price, and should FCD offer him a fair contract, they would have a good chance at re-signing the emerging star. If anything, these quotes put a lot of cold water on the rumors that he would be on the way out this winter.

Much more to come on this in the coming weeks...

How do you feel about this whole thing? Should FCD give John money comparable to what Ugo Ihemelu gets?
