For eleven days beginning on December 18, Qualcomm Stadium, football home of the San Diego Chargers and San Diego State Aztecs, will carry a temporary new moniker: Snapdragon Stadium. Snapdragon processors by Qualcomm are the digital brains inside mobile devices made by top manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Nokia, and HTC. Snapdragon Stadium will host the Chargers-Ravens game on December 18, the Poinsettia Bowl on December 21, and the Holiday Bowl on December 28.

One of the most important pieces to the success or failure of FC Dallas over the next few years will be midfielder Andrew Jacobson. From Palo Alto, California, Jacobson joined FCD in the 2011 preseason going to what would be his third team in three years. He quickly found a home in the center of the Dallas midfield, injecting some size and heading ability into the position while playing the best soccer of his career.

Jacobson broke into the starting 11 in Dallas' 3-0 defeat of Colorado, their first win of the season, and would subsequently start the next 16 games. In those 16 games, the former Cal Bear and FCD would go 10-3-3 with Jacobson earning 5 assists while scoring his first career MLS goal at Houston.

Tragically, Andrew's sparkling 2011 season would be derailed due to a knee injury picked up in the 2-0 loss at Real Salt Lake. While he would come back to start 6 games toward the end of the season, the damage was already done as AJ was never quite the same. He underwent minor surgery in the off-season and looks to return to FC Dallas stronger than ever as the link between Daniel Hernandez and David Ferreira in midfield. In the future, you can certainly see him slotting into the defensive midfield role in the diamond 4-4-2 formation that Schellas has always loved.

Jacobson was rewarded with a new contract towards the end of the 2011 season and should be a core member of the FC Dallas squad as we head into 2012.
