It happened last off-season with a Colombian team making a run at David Ferreira and it looks like FC Dallas will once again have a fight on their hands to keep Ferreira in FCD red and white. Speaking on a live Twitcam interview with El Pais, a major news outlet in Colombia, America de Cali manager Piedrahita Wilson expressed a desire to bring David Ferreira back to the club where he spent 6 seasons from 2000-2005 saying that Ferreira wants to return.
Keep readingAll of this has to be taken with a huge grain of salt as transfer talk is much more open in South America than it is here in MLS. It's not a surprise that a Colombian team wants to bring Ferreira back and an offer from Cali, the club where Ferreira made a name for himself, would be very attractive. As we said last year, Dallas likely holds a lot of the cards in this one depending on what his 2012 contract looks like.
A Ferreira move away would be quite a surprise given Schellas Hyndman's comments before the end of the season, stating that Ferreira expressed a desire to stay in Dallas to be fit and 100% for the 2012 MLS season.
"He took some time today to continue his rehab. The last conversation I had with David, he mentioned he was staying in Dallas during the offseason to continue to work with the training staff and to be ready to go at the start of next season."
For FCD fans this is no reason to panic, but stay tuned as more news on this comes available.
