As Schellas Hyndman said in the post-game press conference, FC Dallas was second best all night to a motivated and well-coached Toronto FC team. TFC came into Frisco tonight with a purpose and a clear objective, walking out of PHP with 3 points and a berth in the quarterfinal stage of the Concacaf Champions League.

I'm not really sure where to begin with this one. Just a depressing, depressing night for the FC Dallas fans who bothered to show up tonight. There is nothing different, on paper, between the team that got beat 3-0 tonight and the team that fought, scratched and clawed for the 1-0 win in Toronto. Obviously, there is something very wrong beneath the surface though.

I would muster up some thoughts, but really there wasn't any bright spots. Jackson was as selfish as I've seen him, though his mazy runs were about the only chances Dallas had. The back line, Ugo Ihemelu and Jeremy Hall mainly, were disjointed and sliced apart.

FC Dallas gained 6 points in two road games, needed just a win in any of their last four games to assure passage through the group stage. Tonight they are at home left to rue what could have been, gaining just a point from their last 4 home games including losing the last 3 games by a combined 8 goals.

Can FCD pick themselves up from this crushing defeat with the playoffs looming in a week or will the most promising season in a decade end with a whimper? Only time will tell.
