As I mentioned yesterday, we're going to be doing a mock draft here on SBN tomorrow night at 8P central so it's probably time we take a look at the draft.

With the news that the MLS Combine games will be streamed live, I'm going to hold off on naming names quite yet as I really just haven't seen much of any college players outside of SMU, William and Mary, and North Carolina. There are a few things to keep in mind, however, as we look at players FCD could have their eyes on.

Now that we've had a couple of Schellas Hyndman drafts under our belt, we can get a little bit of a feel for the players he looks at from the draft.

Schellas' most successful draft picks have been 4 year seniors.  George John, Eric Alexander, Zach Loyd...Schellas' three big hits from his two drafts have been four year players at their respective schools. Look for this trend to continue with FCD not selecting until #17. All of the good young players should be taken so it's likely they'll look at 4 year players who can come in and add team depth right away.

The gaffer loves versatile players who can be serviceable in multiple positions.  The best way for a fringe player to make this team out of pre-season? Be Generation Adidas or prove to Schellas that you can fill in at multiple spots when a player goes down. Dallas will likely look for a guy who can play at any position across the backline or a midfielder who can also play out wide.

Keep reading for the type of player Dallas will likely shy away from

I just can't see FCD going after a forward in next week's draft. Maybe they'll take a flyer on a project type forward late in the draft, but it just seems Schellas has been full of misses when drafting forwards and will likely stay away. Peri Marosevic, Jason Yeisley, Brian Shriver, Andrew Wiedeman....The jury is still out on Wiedeman who took a step forward late in the season, but Dallas needs a top line forward, not a #4.

Again, we'll have a mock draft tomorrow night at 8 on SBN Soccer that could give you a better feeling on how the draft will go and after checking the combine which starts on Saturday. Dallas has the 17th pick in the 1st, 2nd and 3rd round of the Superdraft.
