Players officially reported to PHP for pre-season physicals today and a few different news items have surfaced via FC Dallas press release. Unfortunately there's some pretty bad injury news, but I saved the best for last.
-George John had a bone spur taken from his left ankle in December and is close to 100%. This is obviously good news for FC Dallas fans, though I doubt you'll see too much of George in the first couple of weeks of pre-season.
-Kyle Davies had microfracture surgery on his left ankle on January 10 and will be out at least three months. Wow, this is terrible news for FCD fans and makes it a little more clear why FCD took so many defenders in the draft. Will we ever see him again at 100%?
-Ugo Ihemelu is scheduled to have sports hernia surgery this week and will miss 4-6 weeks. I don't like the sound of this either. These are the kind of things that can nag for a long time...remember a couple of years ago when Dax had a sports hernia, rushed back and re-injured himself. Ugo missing the entire pre-season is a big blow to FCD.

Former Chivas USA forward Maykel Galindo is trialing with FC Dallas. The 5-10 Cuban forward will join FCD for the pre-season and should get tons of minutes to show if he's got much left in the tank. In his prime, Galindo was fantastic for CUSA scoring 12 goals in 28 games in the 2007 season, but he's struggled since then with injuries scoring just 6 goals in the last three seasons combined.
Another forward, Jamaican Sheldon Palmer will be with FCD for the pre-season. Palmer played for tiny Essex County College, a community college in New Jersey, last year.
In all, there are 33 players reporting for pre-season training. This number will rise after Villar is confirmed as signed and any other players are added.
