Every quote we've seen from the Colombian MVP says he loves Dallas and doesn't want to leave, but it's looking like FC Dallas is going to have to fight to keep their talisman.

Reports out of Colombia say Junior of Baranquilla, six time Colombian champions and the current league leaders, have the hots for Ferreira.

The money quote from Ferreira:

“Sé lo que significa Junior, sé que la hinchada es exigente y me encantaría ponerme su camiseta, sería un sueño, pero dependo del Dallas porque ellos tienen la opción de renovar”, explicó el pequeñín del barrio Pescaíto.

“Sé que hay un interés, pero existe un contrato que se debe respetar y no puedo estar hablando nada todavía. Mis representantes se están encargando de todo. Vamos a ver”, puntualizó el samario de 31 años de edad.

Basically, Ferreira makes it sound like he would love to play for Junior one day, but the ball is in Dallas' court as they hold an option to renew his contract.

Another report makes it sound like Junior wants to sign Macnelly Torres and will only make a run at Ferreira if they are unsuccessful.

What does this all mean for Dallas?

Well a lot of this is probably agent-speak. DF10 likely wants, and deserves a nice pay raise and it's up to Dallas to decide whether to give him designated player money. Junior is clearly a palatable option for Ferreira who reportedly has supported them since childhood, but if FCD shows him the money Ferreira will be playing in Frisco next season.

The bottom line is Dallas holds all the cards in this one, as David says, FCD has the option to renew. Ferreira will likely be back next season, but this is a little bit of a worry. It's time to show DF10 the money and get him locked up long term.
