Roster Moves
FC Dallas Signs Defender Carlos Rodriguez
The news is now official. FC Dallas has signed 21-year old defender Carlos Rodriquez from Tauro FC in Panama.
"We liked what we saw in him during Champions League last year," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He's athletic with a good work ethic and he's young at 21 years old. He can play both left and right side full back and is attack-minded. We were looking for another player to give us balance and depth in our defense, and I believe Carlos will do very well in MLS."
As Daniel mentioned earlier in the week, Rodriquez will slot in as depth behind Jair Benitez and Zach Loyd on both fullback spots.
We saw what he could do against FCD in the two Champions League games last fall (picked up one assist in those two games). Once his paperwork comes in he will join the club.
Overall, this should be a pretty good move for the club.
(Note: It does not appear that FCD had to pay any sort of transfer on the deal, but once we get more details on that we'll pass it on to you)
FC Dallas loans Jackson to Brazilian side Cruzeiro
Jackson Goncalves is no longer with FC Dallas, or at least for this season he is. FC Dallas announced today that they have loaned Jackson to Brazilian first division side Cruzeiro.
"Jackson needed to spend some time at home in Brazil for personal reasons," said FC Dallas President and CEO Doug Quinn. "We recognized this and found an opportunity we think will be mutually beneficial."
"Jackson is going to be playing with a very good team in an excellent league, which will help him improve as a player," said FC Dallas head coach Schellas Hyndman. "This loan will also give him the chance to spend the time he needs close to his home."

George John Loaned To West Ham
It is finally official. George John is headed to England on loan with West Ham United for two months. Both clubs announced the deal this morning.
West Ham will have the option to complete a full transfer for John.
"This is an opportunity for George to raise his play to another level," said head coach Schellas Hyndman. "He has the opportunity to spend time with a club rich in tradition, playing in one of the top leagues as they work to earn a promotion back to the Premiership. I have no doubt we will see an even better center back at the end of this period."
Plenty Of Options For FC Dallas In 2012 SuperDraft
With only two rounds and one draft pick in next week's MLS SuperDraft, FC Dallas has one shot at getting it right. New additions to the roster in the form of Blas Perez and Hernan Pertuz, FCD has a few options in a draft class that is starting to come along very nicely.
Naturally a lot can (and will) change between now and next Thursday. The MLS Combine is this weekend and you can bet that a couple players listed here today could end up being drafted higher or not at all depending on how things go for them.
The draft is always a risk. You have players coming in who aren't seasoned enough to be on the pro level, while some players are young with tons of potential waiting to be used properly.
Hernan Pertuz Confirms FC Dallas Contract
In a Q&A posted on the El Heraldo website, Colombian defender Hernan Pertuz confirms he has signed a contract with FC Dallas and will be here to begin pre-season. Pertuz mentions that he is familiar with the Colombians both on FC Dallas and in Seattle. Be sure to check out the Q&A in which the defender seems to be a really good guy and someone who is ready to come in and work hard.
Pertuz figures to slot in as the first backup center back behind George John and Ugo Ihemelu and as someone who turns 23 in March, he could be a big part of the team going forward. This could also mean the rumored arrival of defenders from Tauro FC doesn't happen now.
It's nice to finally have a new name to add to the squad as we barrel towards preseason. We're just 3 weeks away from the beginning of training camp.
Report: FC Dallas After Colombian Defender
Reports out of Colombia suggest FC Dallas could be after Colombian defender Hernan Pertuz of Independiente Medellin. According to Diego Rueda of Caracol Radio, a major radio news outlet in Colombia, the former Colombian U20 international defender is headed to Frisco for the 2012 season.
Pertuz is a 22 year old central defender who has spent his entire career with DIM. In his time with the Colombian side, he has won a league championship in 2009 and participated in two Copa Libertadores seasons. The story really begins to gain traction once you learn that former Dallas Burn star Leonel Alvarez managed Independiente from 2008-2010 before taking over as Colombia manager. According Colombian reports, Pertuz was out of contract with his club who finished near the bottom of the table in 2011.
Back in 2009, Pertuz was a big part of the Colombian U20 South American Championship side that finished 5th in the tournament, scoring two goals and earning interest from Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Basel.
