Note: Welcome Jay AKA FCJayBird as he lends a hand to the BDS team to take over our News Updates. A couple times a week Jay will bring us news from around the FCD/MLS/World Soccer sphere to digest. The last couple weeks have been slow with the holidays, but things will heat up again soon!
Hello FCD Nation!! I'm Jay (you can call me J for short) and I'll be handling all of your weekly news updates from here on out! Well at least until Daniel decides otherwise, but until then we're going to have a little bit of fun I hope.
I want to start off by saying that if you haven't already gotten season tickets for 2013 the Holiday Flex Packs are still available!! If you can't commit to full season tickets this is the way to go! Be a part of what's sure to be an exciting year and help to grow FC Dallas to bigger heights.
Since it's a new year I thought we would start this one off with a really cool story from Mark Norris over at FCD. I know that Daniel already talked about this on here but I just wanted to highlight again the awesome things being done by players from all over MLS. Both Bobby Warshaw and Zach Loyd volunteered their time to be the reps for FC Dallas at "Soccer Night in Newtown".
"I hope we can go there and bring some happiness," Loyd said. "Let them know we’re here for them."
"There’s no goal here other than to make people happy," Warshaw said. "Go up and do some soccer stuff and hope that makes them feel good."
If you haven't seen it already go check out the video of all of the FC Dallas goals from 2012. I know we didn't score as many as we all hoped but there were some real beauties.
Top Drawer Soccer did a nice little write up about the FCD U15 Ladies "Baby Hoops" successful string of games at the recent ECNL series in Florida this past weekend.
Ciara Donnelly's goal midway through the first half was just enough for FC Dallas U15 in a 1-0 win against Michigan Hawks on Sunday. The Texas club ended the event with a perfect 3-0-0 record.
Nice job ladies!!
So I know we're all wondering about the 800lb gorilla in the room and Peter Welpton over at 3rd Degree has written a very solid little editorial about the "Quinn Issue".
The Quinn issue is a frightfully sensitive and complicated problem for Hunt Sports Group. Their silence to date is up for discussion as you can argue PR strategies from different angles, but at some point if Doug is going to remain the CEO of FC Dallas – the club, the league and Doug Quinn himself are going to have to do their best sales job to date.
That may be the understatement of the year....
I don't want to give to many of my own opinions on this yet as I truly believe that such a sensitive issue is best resolved before I go making a fool out of myself on my first post. The resolution of this issue however is something that I assure you I will be keeping a close eye on and will keep you informed as more information available.
For those trying to get over the New Years hangover (or just need a pickup after that last post.) here's some funny blooper reals from Vydra and our buddy Scott Brown over at FC Dallas. Sorry guys these are to good to pass up!
Thank you all for taking some time to give this a read. I look forward to many more meeting with you here.
