Acosta, Garcia Named To US U-20 World Cup Roster

Kellyn Acosta is the youngest player on the roster for the US.

U.S. Under-20 Men's National Team head coach Tab Ramos has named the 21-player roster that will represent the USA at the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey from June 21-July 13.

FC Dallas has two players that are involved on the roster. Current Homegrown midfielder Kellyn Acosta and former Academy star Danny Garcia are listed on the 21-man roster.

Acosta is the youngest player on the US roster at 17-years old. He could be featured on the next US U-20 roster for the next U-20 World Cup in New Zealand in 2015.

The release from US Soccer put in a lovely small note about Garcia and Acosta playing together stating that they were apart of the FC Dallas U-17/18 Academy squad that won the 2011-12 Academy Finals Week title game against the Vancouver Whitecaps at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston. Both players started and Garcia had a goal and assisted the game-winner.

Sadly, no Walker Zimmerman on this roster as injuries likely kept him out of the running for a roster spot despite the US's need for central defensive help at the Toulon Tournament last week.

(Update: Both Zimmerman and Jonathan Top were listed on a provision roster that the US submitted to FIFA back in May. Both could still be added later on in case of an injury.)

Up first on July 21 will be Spain, followed by games against France and Ghana.
