Thankfully enough, it will only be for one game. Tuesday, the MLS Disciplinary Committee has suspended Benitez for one game for his head-butt on Portland's Frédéric Piquionne in the 40th minute of last Saturday's game.
See for yourself.
Somehow at the time Benitez managed not to even get yellow carded for the head-butt. I'm fairly confident that this is a play and situation that would file under Schellas Hyndman's emotional intelligence category that he loves to preach about.
For the most part this season, Benitez has been anything but a head case that we've seen him to be in the past. But this time around his old self came back into the fold and look what it cost him and the team.
I would imagine we'll see London Woodberry starting in his place this weekend, a good chance for the young rookie Homegrown to earn some minutes and prove his worth again to Hyndman.
