FC Dallas Injury Update: Jair Benitez Picks Up Ankle Injury

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Week by week the injury report continues to shrink.

We're slowly inching closer to getting the band back together for the final stretch run of the 2014 season here. The FC Dallas injury report is out ahead of tomorrow's game with the Philadelphia Union and for the first time in a couple months key players like Mauro Diaz and Hendry Thomas are not listed. At all.

Out: Kellyn Acosta (patella avulsion fracture), George John (right knee), Jair Benitez (ankle sprain)

Questionable: Walker Zimmerman (hamstring strain)

The big news is obviously surrounding Diaz and Thomas. Both are back in training but Oscar Pareja has stated that each are still likely a week away from seeing the playing field. In other words, expect them against New England not Philadelphia this weekend. Though how great would it be to see both of them on the bench tomorrow night in front of a capacity crowd?

The new addition to this report is Benitez who picked up an ankle sprain this week. In a small way the timing works out well for Moises Hernandez to return this weekend from his suspension. I expected him to start Friday's game before seeing this report and this pretty much confirms it.

Still plenty of positives all around for a club like FCD that is on the uptick right now going unbeaten in five games in all competitions.
