Around MLS: Chivas on fire, Thierry Henry being Thierry Henry, more

Jim O'Connor-USA TODAY Sports

Chivas USA have won four straight and Henry produced an outstanding performance against Columbus.

No games for FC Dallas last week, but FCD got a whole lot of help with Colorado, Portland, and Vancouver dropping points. So, not bad for a bye week.

Chivas USA on fire

Chivas have won four straight and three of them have been shutouts. Oh, and that guy Erick Torres? He has scored in his last five games. Are these guys for real? Could they make a push for a playoff spot?

I don't think so. They are playing well at the moment. But, remember when they started off hot at the beginning of the season? Yeah, probably not because they ran out of coal. But, it seems they've found some more coal. That doesn't mean their fire will burn bright till the end of the season. I expect them to cool down for the second half of the season.

Side note: Could Richard Sanchez return to MLS already via Chivas USA?

Henry still world class

Thierry Henry had one of his best performances during his time in MLS on Saturday. The New York Red Bulls striker provided three assists and a goal in the Red Bulls 4-1 thrashing of the Columbus Crew.

In what could be his last season in MLS, and maybe even his last time playing professional soccer, the time is now to start stepping up for his team. This season hasn't been like the previous seasons for Henry. He isn't scoring as much. But, that doesn't mean that he isn't producing. He only has four goals, but leads the league in assists with nine, ahead of the likes of noted playmakers Diego Valeri and Mauro Rosales. His teammate Bradley Wright-Phillips is reaping the benefits and leads the chase for the MLS Golden Boot by tallying 15 goals already.

The 36-year-old Henry is playing out the end of his Designated Player contract and doesn't know whether he will return after season's end.
